When our community was put under “Shelter-in-Place” lockdown in March Leila was required to stop serving customers at our establishment. Our business dried up, so what to do? Close our doors? Shut down?
Our manager Mo decided we needed to keep our kitchen open. Then he did what his heart told him to do. Help those in need. Mo made an offer on social media to families in Hercules and the surrounding area whose children were not getting their lunches at school and were missing out on meals. Mo invited anyone in our community to stop by for free food. Yes, free food for anyone, no questions asked.
That offer reached quickly reached local news and then was shared with the national news. We were inundated with feedback and support and would like to thank everyone for that. The response was incredible! What shocked us the most were the desperate requests we got from all over the Bay Area and even from out-of-state, as far as Florida and Texas.
People all over the country that were struggling reached out to us for help. We did what we could, which is to help neighbors who came to our restaurant asking for assistance. In this difficult time we will continue to offer free food to any of our neighbors in and around Hercules, CA.
